Usage
machine-memory upgradeupgrade checks the repository for the latest release and starts a download process.
The request timeout defaults to 15 seconds and can be changed with MACHINE_MEMORY_UPGRADE_TIMEOUT_MS. MACHINE_MEMORY_API_URL overrides the GitHub API base, and MACHINE_MEMORY_BIN_PATH overrides the binary path used for replacement.
Checksum verification
Before installing, upgrade verifies the downloaded archive’s SHA-256 digest. The expected digest comes from the release asset’s sha256:<hex> digest that GitHub computes on upload, falling back to the release checksums.txt asset. If neither source is available, or the digest does not match, the upgrade aborts without touching the installed binary.
macOS troubleshooting
Like the freshly downloaded binary, if the upgraded binary also dies with zsh: killed, macOS rejected its embedded ad-hoc signature because the code no longer matches it. Confirm with codesign -v --strict machine-memory (it reports invalid signature), then re-sign locally:
